JK’s House of Ribs Inside
I had the opportunity to visit JK’s House of Ribs, a restaurant located in Manning, South Carolina today. A local told me that JK’s has the best tasting barbeque in the area, so I decided to see for myself. In 2018, JK’s House of Ribs was number 21 on Travel and leisure’s, The 25 Best Places for Barbecue in the U.S.. The question is, “Is JK’s House of Ribs the best BBQ restaurant in Manning, SC.”
When I walked in, the woodsy aroma immediately hit me, which is precisely what I expect when I enter a barbeque restaurant. JK’s is not too big or small, with a mixture of table and booth seating for about 40 people. On the outside, JK’s resembles a log cabin, and the dining room is nicely styled with a southern décor.

The staff was very courteous and attentive. I was greeted as soon as I entered the restaurant, and the cashier waited patiently to take my order. As I reviewed the well-stocked menu, one of the owners made polite conversation with me. The menu had everything from ribs to Philly cheesesteaks. Since the name of the restaurant is named JK’s House of Ribs, I could not pass up the opportunity to try them. Since the local who told me about JK’s praised their barbeque, I decided to try a pulled pork sandwich and some fries.
The ribs were cooked very well. The meat fell from the bone with the slightest tug. This was my first sign that the JK’s know what they were doing. The smoky, woodsy taste penetrated all the way through the meat. This was combined with the sweet, deep barbeque flavor cooked into the ribs and topped with the matching barbeque sauce. I have to admit that these were some of the best, well-cooked ribs that I have ever tasted. I was amazed by how much I enjoyed them.
JK’s House of Ribs - Pulled pork sandwich
The pulled pork sandwich was no slouch, either. This meat was cooked just as well as the ribs with a similar smoky, woodsy taste. JK’s covered the pulled pork liberally with their barbecue sauce. The generous portion of pulled pork they provided made the sandwich thick and hearty. The sandwich alone makes a great meal, but crinkle-cut fries were the perfect compliment.
Overall, I have to give JK’s House of Ribs 5 out of 5. Everything from the customer service to the atmosphere to the food was perfect! I always like to find these wonderful restaurants in the most unexpected places. Finding places like JK’s is a sharp reminder that we do not need a big city or fancy eateries to have a great meal. If you are ever near Manning, South Carolina, I recommend that you visit JK’s so that you can taste why they were named one of The 25 Best Places for Barbecue in the U.S. There are quite a few restaurants in Manning, S.C., including a number that primarily serve barbecue. But, the real question is, “Is JK’s House of Ribs the best BBQ restaurant in Manning, SC.”
